Overview
The School of Environmental Studies offers a variety of programs in fields related to the built environment, including Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Surveying and Geoinformatics, Building Technology, and Transport Management.

DEAN of Environmental Studies
Established in August 2024, the School of Environmental Studies provides education and training programs at the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma levels. Our focus is on equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in these dynamic fields.
Meet the Dean
Lawal Sani Usman hailed from Daura, Katsina State, Nigeria. He holds an N.C.E Biology Geography from Isa Kaita College Of Education Dutsinma, Katsina State, B.Sc. Ed Geography, Professional Diploma in Computer Studies (PDCS), Masters Environmental Management (MEM), Master of Geography with Specialization on Environmental management and climate change (MSc Geo Envt, Mangt), PhD in view, (Natural Resources management and climate change), all from Bayero University, Kano.
He is a seasoned academician of good standing, with over twelve (12) years of teaching experience in Tertiary Institutions and has published widely in reputable journals, and participated in numerous scientific and environmental conferences and workshops. He rose from the rank of Assistant lecturer to Lecturer 1 at Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda Zamfara State, where he was before moving to Federal Polytechnic Daura in December 2023.
He is a respected leader with a commitment to academic excellence. He holds many leadership positions and member of various professional organizations such as:
Member Academic Board, Member, Editorial Board of Federal Polytechnic Daura, Katsina State, HOD Geography unit(SBRS federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda, Coordinator (Student Excursion), Member Association of Nigerian Geographers(ANG)Member Environmental Society of Nigeria;(ESN), Member Daura Forum, Secretary Deca, Secretary Save youth development forum Daura, Secretary Old Student Association class of 93.
He is happily married and blessed with children.
